White House and Treasury to Once Again Ignore Congress

"Coming on the heels of the auto bailout's defeat in the Senate, the White House and the Treasury are announcing their intentions to take money from TARP and act anyway. If it hasn't been apparent to mainstream conservative voters that legislative check and balances mean nothing to this administration, it should be clear to everyone now."

Action Alert: Oppose the Automaker Bailout!

"On Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, automaker bailout bill H.R. 7321 was introduced in the House and swiftly passed 273-170 on the same day. The Senate is set to vote on the bill by Friday in what is expected to be a close vote."

Do We Still Need the Bill of Rights?

"There are two important points to remember about the Bill of Rights. First, the Bill of Rights does not give any rights to the American people and, second, the Bill of Rights was intended to protect us from our own federal government. Those two points often shock ordinary Americans. Throughout their schooling, especially in public schools, they gradually come to believe that their rights come from the Constitution and, more specifically, from the Bill of Rights."

Imprisoned for Seven Years Without Being Charged

"Consider this incredible sequence of events. A young American citizen was invited to study in a Middle Eastern country. Having arrived there, the dictatorship running the country kidnapped him and held him in solitary confinement for seven years without a trial. The dictatorship didn't just incarcerate him, they stubbornly refused to charge him with a crime during his incarceration. His family and friends have petitioned for his release, but the dictator vaguely insists he was a subversive and intended to attack his country — though the ruler stubbornly refuses to provide any details about how this might have happened. Release of these details — even seven years later — would jeopardize 'national security.' But it's also widely known that this person was apprehended unarmed and had not engaged in any violence."
